We asked Lyric, what is most meaningful to you?
“Definitely kindness—which we need so much more of.”
Lyric: My most meaningful moment in life was when I was a junior in high school. I was so tired of everybody tearing me down. I was feeding into every negative thought and I got to a point where I was super uncomfortable with my body.
I just didn't know how to cope with it anymore, so one Sunday I was in church with my mom and I remember my pastor saying he was doing an alter call. I never, ever went up to the altar because I I had so much anxiety but this day I did.
He said that you can come up here and leave whatever is heavy on your heart here. I remember going up to the altar, and I prayed. I just asked God, “at the very least, I just don't want to hate myself anymore.”
I remember walking away from the altar and I just didn't feel that way anymore. Not to say I was completely fixed, but I didn't have this underlining hate for myself. I feel like I replaced it with grace. Even on the days that I am feeling just like a ‘blob’ in this world, I still feel that I'm worthy.
Tell us about your style: I’m realizing that I don't like super flashy things, and it's not because I'm ashamed of myself, but I like myself to shine through more than what I'm wearing. I like pieces that simply compliment me and that I can forget that I even have on because it's a part of me.
“I have learned to be very honest with myself and make space in my mind for thoughts to freely come and freely leave without judgment and with more understanding.”
We started Silent Opus to create more soulful connections because we believe the jewelry we wear is much more than an accessory. It’s a vessel to communicate what’s most meaningful to us — beyond words.
